ABSTRACT The subject of this paper is a quantification the information content cosmological probes large-scale structures, specifically temperature and polarization anisotropies in cosmic microwave background (CMB), CMB-lensing, weak shear galaxy clustering, terms theory measures like entropies. We aim to establish relationships between conventional statistical uncertainties entropies for Gaussian likelihoods, which are described by Fisher-formalism. Furthermore, we extend these studies computation (Bayesian) evidences power measurement distinguish competing models. investigate detail how data decrease entropy reducing errors breaking degeneracies. Entropy, Information Theory, Information Geometry and Bayesian Inference in Data, Signal and Image Processing and Inverse Problems
The main content of this review article is first to review the main inference tools using Bayes rule, the maximum entropy principle (MEP), information theory, relative entropy and the Kullback–Leibler (KL) divergence, Fisher information and its corresponding geometries. For each of these tools, the precise context of their use is described. The second part of the paper is focused on the ways th...
متن کاملGravitational entropy in cosmological models
Penrose [1] has argued that the initial cosmological singularity must be one of low entropy in order to explain the high isotropy of the observed universe and to be consistent with the second law of thermodynamics. Since the matter was presumably in thermal equilibrium at the initial singularity, this implies low entropy in the gravitational field. Penrose has also conjectured that such a gravi...
متن کاملMIDER: Network Inference with Mutual Information Distance and Entropy Reduction
The prediction of links among variables from a given dataset is a task referred to as network inference or reverse engineering. It is an open problem in bioinformatics and systems biology, as well as in other areas of science. Information theory, which uses concepts such as mutual information, provides a rigorous framework for addressing it. While a number of information-theoretic methods are a...
متن کاملCosmological Time, Entropy and Infinity
Time is a parameter playing a central role in our most fundamental modelling of natural laws. Relativity theory shows that the comparison of times measured by different clocks depends on their relative motion and on the strength of the gravitational field in which they are embedded. In standard cosmology, the time parameter is the one measured by fundamental clocks (i.e., clocks at rest with re...
متن کاملCosmological Entropy and Black Holes in
In this talk we discuss intermediate mass black holes (IMBHs) by their amplilification of distant sources; MACHO searches have studied event times 2h∼ t0 < ∼ 2y corresponding masses in the range 10M⊙ < ∼ M < ∼ 100M⊙. We suggest that larger masses up to 10 M⊙ are also of considerable interest by arguments about the entropy of the universe. One percent by mass of dark energy can provide ninety-ni...
